Issues We Work With

At Tulia Counselling and Consulting, we understand that life can present a multitude of challenges, and we're here to support you every step of the way. We can help address a wide range of issues, helping individuals, couples, and families navigate their unique struggles with compassion and expertise.

Trauma Recovery

Trauma can leave a lasting impact on every aspect of our lives, affecting our thoughts, emotions, and relationships. Our trauma-informed therapists are trained to help individuals heal from past traumatic experiences, whether they're related to childhood abuse, domestic violence, accidents, or other life-threatening events. Using evidence-based techniques such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and somatic experiencing, we empower clients to reclaim their sense of safety and self-worth and move forward with resilience.

Depression & Anxiety

Depression and anxiety are among the most common mental health challenges individuals face today. Whether you're struggling with overwhelming sadness, persistent worry, panic attacks, or intrusive thoughts, our therapists are here to provide compassionate support and evidence-based treatment. Through cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based techniques, and holistic approaches, we help clients develop coping skills, challenge negative thought patterns, and find relief from their symptoms.

Relationship Challenges

Healthy relationships are essential for our well-being, but they can also be a source of stress and conflict. Whether you're experiencing communication breakdowns, trust issues, or conflicts with your partner, family members, or friends, our therapists can help. Using approaches such as couples therapy, family therapy, and interpersonal therapy (IPT), we support clients in improving their communication skills, resolving conflicts, and building stronger, more fulfilling connections with others.

Grief & Loss

Losing a loved one, whether through death, divorce, or separation, can be one of life's most challenging experiences. Our therapists provide a compassionate space for individuals to process their grief, honor their loved ones, and find meaning in their loss. Through grief counseling, narrative therapy, and mindfulness-based techniques, we help clients navigate the complex emotions of grief and discover a sense of peace and acceptance.

Identity and Self-Exploration

Exploring our identity and sense of self is an essential part of personal growth and development. Whether you're questioning your identity, struggling with self-esteem issues, or feeling lost and disconnected from yourself, our therapists can help you find clarity and empowerment. Using approaches such as narrative therapy, mindfulness-based therapy, and identity-affirming techniques, we support clients in embracing their authentic selves and living more fulfilling lives.

Body Image and Eating Disorders:

Body image struggles and eating disorders can take a significant toll on our mental and emotional well-being. Our therapists provide compassionate support to individuals who are grappling with issues related to body image, disordered eating, and unhealthy relationship with food and exercise. Through approaches such as body-centered therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based techniques, we help clients develop a more positive body image, cultivate self-compassion, and find freedom from their eating disorder.

Stress Management and Burnout Prevention:

In today's fast-paced world, stress and burnout are increasingly common challenges that can take a toll on our physical, mental, and emotional health. Our therapists provide practical tools and strategies to help individuals manage stress, prevent burnout, and prioritize self-care. Through approaches such as mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), relaxation techniques, and boundary-setting skills, we empower clients to create a more balanced and fulfilling life.

Complicated Family Dynamics

Family dynamics play a crucial role in shaping our relationships and sense of self. Our therapists specialize in helping families navigate conflicts, improve communication, and build stronger, more resilient bonds. Whether you're grappling with blended family issues, sibling rivalries, or generational patterns, we provide a safe and supportive space for families to heal and grow together.

Intergenerational Trauma

Intergenerational trauma refers to the transmission of trauma from one generation to the next, often resulting from historical injustices such as colonization, slavery, or genocide. Our therapists specialize in helping individuals and families heal from intergenerational trauma, fostering resilience and empowerment. Through narrative therapy, family therapy, and cultural healing practices, we support clients in breaking free from cycles of pain and creating a more hopeful future for themselves and future generations.

Racial Trauma

Racial trauma refers to the psychological and emotional impact of experiencing racism, discrimination, and microaggressions. For BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) individuals, navigating racial trauma can be particularly challenging. Our therapists provide culturally sensitive support and validation to BIPOC clients who are grappling with the impact of systemic racism and historical trauma. Through a trauma-informed lens and an intersectional feminist approach, we empower clients to heal from their past wounds, reclaim their cultural identity, and advocate for social change.
