Frequently Asked Questions

The first session is about getting to know you and understanding what brings you to therapy. We’ll discuss your concerns, goals, and any past experiences with therapy. It’s also an opportunity for you to ask questions and see if my approach feels like a good fit. There’s no pressure to share everything at once—you can take it at your own pace.

Therapy provides a safe, supportive space to process difficult emotions, understand patterns that keep you stuck, and develop new coping skills. We use evidence-based approaches like EMDR, somatic therapy, and narrative therapy to help you heal from trauma, manage depression, and reduce anxiety. Together, we’ll work towards helping you feel more present, grounded, and empowered in your life.

I use evidence-based approaches, including EMDR, somatic therapy, narrative therapy, and trauma-focused cognitive therapy. My approach is intersectional, feminist, and anti-oppressive, meaning we work together to explore how personal experiences, relationships, and systemic factors impact your well-being.

Yes, confidentiality is a key part of therapy. What we discuss stays between us, with a few legal exceptions—such as if there’s a risk of harm to yourself or others, or in cases of child abuse. We’ll go over these limits in our first session so you know exactly what to expect.

Individual therapy offers one-on-one support tailored to your personal needs, while group therapy provides a space to connect with others facing similar challenges. Both can be powerful for healing, and sometimes a combination of both is helpful. I offer groups for grief and trauma recovery, as well as individual therapy.

Friends are invaluable, but therapy offers something different. In therapy, you have a confidential, unbiased space where you don’t have to filter your thoughts or worry about burdening someone. If you find yourself repeating the same struggles, feeling stuck, or wanting deeper healing, therapy might be the right step.

Yes! I offer secure online therapy sessions for clients in Alberta. Virtual sessions provide flexibility while ensuring you still receive the same depth of support as in-person therapy. I also have in-person sessions at my office in SW Edmonton.

Therapy is different for everyone. Some clients see improvements in a few months, while others prefer long-term support. The length of therapy depends on your goals, the challenges you're working through, and how deep you want to go in your healing process. We’ll check in regularly to ensure therapy is meeting your needs.

Yes! My practice is rooted in intersectional, anti-oppressive, and trauma-informed care. We specialize in working with individuals navigating intergenerational trauma, life transitions, and identity-related stressors, especially Women of Colour and first-generation adults. Therapy is a space where all of your experiences—cultural, personal, and systemic—are acknowledged and respected.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a structured therapy that helps you process distressing memories and experiences so they no longer feel overwhelming. It’s particularly effective for trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and grief. If you feel stuck in certain memories, patterns, or emotional reactions, EMDR could help reprocess these experiences in a way that brings relief. We can discuss whether EMDR is a good fit at your first session.
